I got wheels

Lots has been happening. My first week at work went fairly well, although I haven't been able to do much while the wheels were spinning on security clearance, computer access, etc. Hopefully this week an cubicle will become available and I will have a proper office as opposed to being on a side table in someone else's workspace.

The hardest part so far has been the commute, I've pretty much had to make a different arrangement for every day as spots became available. I was planning on waiting a couple of months before getting a car (easier to obtain financing, and more ready cash for down payments), but after the last week I had to make some wheels a top priority. I put my fiancee to work looking for a used car as she is not working at the moment. Low and behold, I come home to see that she's found five or six options for me, plus an insurance quote.

We decided on a 2003 Ford Focus. Its a 4-door with the SE (mid-level) trim package, low mileage, and quite a few extras (auto, a/c, power what-have-you, alloy hubcaps and a spoiler), its pretty sweet. All that's left to do is wait for the bank to approve the financing, which won't happen until Monday. So Monday after work, things should be ready to go, the dealership will do the registration for us and everything. Vroom.
